Health & Safety Advisor (FULL TIME)

Integrated Risk Management Ltd (IRM Safety) is a leading supplier of health and safety support to companies across a wide range of business sectors. Based near Carlisle and supporting clients across the UK, we are looking for a Health and Safety Support Advisor to join our team.

The ideal candidate will come from an engineering background and will have practical and commercial experience and be looking to embark in a career in health and safety. They will hold a NEBOSH General & Fire Certificate qualifications as a minimum.

The role of a Health and Safety Advisor is a varied and challenging role. The role will initially be office centred. It will include client site visits, initially with existing consultants, and will develop into a full Health and Safety Consultant role with the relevant training and experience.

  • Must be well organised and a self-starter, able to work with limited supervision
  • A team player with strong interpersonal and trouble-shooting skills
  • Must be a strong multi-tasker and must excel at coping with conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be a highly motivated with an attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives


The role involves the following; this is an outline of the role and is by no means an exhaustive list:

  • Development of health and safety documentation, including policy arrangements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, method statements, etc
  • Undertaking risk assessment for client activities
  • Development of safe systems of work for client activities
  • Support Company health and safety consultants with audit report completion
  • Implementation of health and safety management systems
  • Investigation of accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences and cases of ill health, reporting and recommendation of actions to follow
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation
  • General administration duties
  • Answering the telephone
  • Maintaining the image and the standards of the company at all times
  • Maintenance of personal CPD programme
  • Assist Consultants with audit and inspection activities on client’s sites, this would be over a wide geographical area (our client’s range across the mainland United Kingdom), travelling and nights out will be involved with the role
  • Guidance, support and advice to IRM Safety clients in line the regulatory requirements
